From 12th April until today there has been music within he Royal Dutch Military Police. From Drum Corps to advanced Drum Corps in 1954 and transfer to valve instruments in 1981 to become a band.

From 2001 short term regular staff and reserve staff as well with high level musical qualities could enlist, which nowadays offers an excellent presentation for the Military Police.
In the past and until 1982 many members of the Military Police, both regular and National Service staff, were members of the Drum Corps. The instrumentation consisted of parade drums, e-flat bugles and bass bugles without valves, offering a special sound. The then uniforms were service dress, the 2 colour uniform, the blue tunic with high collar, flat collar or the ceremonial tunic.

The Historical Drum Corps intends to present itself at special occasions, as an independent unit or together with the present Band, for instance during historical ceremonies, veteran days, reunions and tattoos.

The Historical drum Corps was founded with the authorisation of the Commander of the Military Police.
